We build the tools we run our own work on.
Looped is a small team in Cape Town. Most of us have run a business or a client practice, so the apps start from the admin we were tired of doing by hand.
We’re builders, consultants and designers. Between us we’ve tracked hours for clients, sent the invoices, chased the payments and got the books ready for the accountant at year end. Looped started as the tools we wanted for that work, and we still use them every week.
Along the way we built a few things for ourselves and opened them up: a local voice transcriber for the Mac, a markdown editor for the plans our agents write and an agent framework for small programs that wait for an event and do one job.
We’re a team of four, so we choose our work carefully, and some things you might expect, like live bank feeds, aren’t there yet.
How we decide what to build.

Thinking in systems
We look for the steps in a piece of work that repeat every week or get stuck every month, and we build for those first.

Defaulting to simple
Every screen, feature and setting has to earn its place, and we would rather ship one fewer than one that gets in the way.

Using what we build
We run our own companies on Looped. If an app isn't good enough for our work, we don't ship it.
